HOW TO EXPERIENCE A PERFECT TRANSITIONING.

Transitioning could go wrongly if not done right. Transitioning is trying to go natural by avoiding relaxers and anything that could kill the hair. This means trying to grow out your natural hair without getting rid of the permed hair immediately. You do it bits by bits. Making the transition from chemically treated hair should be an exciting time for you. Am going to guide you through the unknown and help make the transition go as easy as possible. This post is divided. Do take your time, its very helpful...

1.)What to expect when transitioning to natural hair.
2.)How to make the transition to natural hair.
3.)How not to make the transition to natural hair.

1.)WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN TRANSITIONING TO NATURAL HAIR: Transitioning aint dat easy. This is because, you have to keep cutting out the relaxed hair bit by bit at least every 3wks. All depends on how fast your hair grows. One of the biggest problems women face is the problem of losing length. Many black women struggle all their lives to grow that hair long. Giving up is difficult. Its not possible to keep the permed hair's length and just make the relaxed hair natural again. Once hair has been chemically relaxed, that particular piece of the hair shaft is forever altered in its texture. The new growth from the scalp will be natural hair. But,the new growth will always be attached to the chemically treated hair.
Breakage occurs a lot during this process because sone women try to grow the natural hair in and keep the permed hair without a real strategy. This leads to excessive breakage. The part of the hair where the natural hair joins the permed hair tends to be weak and the hair easily breaks off.

2.)HOW TO MAKE THE TRANSITION TO NATURAL HAIR:  This is the sløwest way of going natural. The fastest is going big chop.Thats cutting off all of the permed hair at once. Many women dont want that. Transitioning need you to visit your salon For the touch up/trimming at six weeks or you can simply do this yourself if your sure ur up to the task
Braids and /or extensionsans are one way to make your length while transitioning. This will mark the difference in texture between your new growth and the permed hair and Equaly give you length while your growing in enough natural hair. You will have to minimize the amount of heat, how you style it,how much you have to comb it and keep it very well moisturized. I highly recommend the use of a silk cap or scarf at night. This will prevent your pillowcase from tapping moisture away from your hair and reduce breakage from the friction of rubbing your head on the pillow.

3.)HOW NOT TO MAKE THE TRANSITION TO NATURAL HAIR: There are certain things you need to avoid while making the transition to natural hair. Trying to REVERT the relaxed hair with chemicals might make it frizzy. Theses products will not make your hair natural again. Yes. Sone women will try pressing out the natural hair to make it look like the permed hair. Its a good idea. But,its putting stress on your hair and may cause breakage. Excessive pressing of natural hair can end up permanently straightening it,ending up delaying the transition your trying to make as you have now got three textures of hair... Hair chemically straightened, hair permanently straightened by heat and natural hair.

While transitioning, its adviseable to find a style that will incoporate the new growth coming in with the relaxed hair. This is a challenge especially if its extreamly short. Also, trying to figure out how to style the hair when the roots are kinky/curly is equally new for most people. There are several options:
1. TWA: Teeny weeny afro. You could decide to rock the afro that way for a while.
2. Braids: you can either choose to do extentions. Braiding additional hair into your relaxed hair like the bix braids.
3. Two strand twists: This style could last for a week or two before you get to restyle. But be careful, if worn for too long could make the hair begin to lock. An added bonus to wearing this style is the TWIST OUT. A few days before your ready to restyle your haur, just remove the twist and you will find your hair has the natural crinkles in it.
4. Flat twists: The same as cornrows. The difference is you use two strands of hair instead of three....
